A Diverse Bioethics Council

It looks like Bush did a grand job inviting plenty of people onto the Council of Bioethics that fundamentally disagreed with his views. That’s very commendable and necessary for fruitful discussion on bioethical matters. Robert P. George, one of the members, wonders if Obama will follow that trend in his latest article on the Public Discourse titled “A Diverse Bioethics Council?”

I wasn’t aware that the current council is so diverse, and George raises some interesting questions about what it will look like under Obama. This is also nothing to be taken lightly for those who are concerned about the sanctity of human life -and not just embryonic-, especially considering how much closer we are inching to the UK and other European states and their health care systems.  Read Wesley J Smith’s blog Secondhand Smoke on more bioethics commentary.
