No progress for pro-lifers?

One argument I hear quite often is that since there was no legislative progress against abortion under the Republican government, and since abortions haven’t decreased, it’s okay to vote for Obama. Besides this being a really lame and stupid argument (“Oh I know slavery is bad, but since there has been no progress to make it illegal in the last 30 years, I will vote for the guy who gives it every legal protection possible. We will then educate the white man to bring down the number of slaves he owns.”), it’s also false. You are subscribed to the Public Discourse, no?

Can a Christian vote for Obama?

The answer, as with so much, is, of course, yes. Would it be a biblical vote? Not at all. Obama’s pro-abortion stance is so obnoxiously obvious, it is beyond me why anyone just slightly concerned by over one million dead babies every year would even consider it.

I found a very good and well written article by Robert P. George of Princeton University. It came my way via the Triablogue crowd. It’s somewhat long, which may turn people off who are used to reading blogs instead of books, but it’s well worth the read.
