Biblical Government
In an earlier post not too long ago, the issue of the war and what role government has came up. I meant to answer this in a little bit of detail, but it looks like I don’t have to anymore.
Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, wrote an article about just that this day before the 4th of July that explains that issue quite well.
The 5th paragraph, talking about protecting what is right, explains why I believe war, as terrible as it is and as much I wish there were no war, is sometimes necessary and not at all against God’s character or command. A study on Augustine’s Just War theory will bring further insights (and no, Wikipedia is not really a good study tool).
